Ugbad Farah (London, Ontario)
We're back! Today we present the wonderful Ugbad Farah who is an IT Consultant based in London, Ontario. Ugbad earned her BA Honours Specialization in Political Science with a Minor in Sociology from the University of Western Ontario. Masha'Allah!

How does she define success? ⠀ Growing up in the Somali community there are evident measures of success. Get an education, become a doctor, lawyer or engineer and get married. All those things are great but, they shouldn't be the be-all and end-all. It’s almost 2020, there are some many career options that didn't even exists 10 or 20 years ago. I urge Somali youth and all youth to research different industries, talk to professionals and find out what opportunities are out there. Success is finding something purposeful and fulfilling and true success should encompass all parts of your life. Success for me is peace of mind, strong faith, good health and the freedom to help those in need. ⠀
What advice would she give to young people?
The most important thing I would tell young people is to have a positive attitude and focus on the things you can control. Take care of yourself, make your mental health a priority, get enough sleep and learn about proper nutrition. You'd be surprised how many doors open for you when you don't feed into negativity. You are under no obligation to be the same person you were a year, month, or even 15 minutes ago. Learn, grow and be patient. The lessons you learn today will benefit you tomorrow.
Well said Ugbad! We love to see our sisters prosper. Wishing you continued success!
